Darleen Cherry – Assistant Instructor

Hi, I’m Darleen Cherry from San Antonio, Texas. I was first introduced to the joy of riding motorcycles in 1981 at the age of 33. I was taught how to ride at a motorcycle rally on a Kawasaki 1300. (My husband had to ride in the passenger seat because I couldn’t reach the ground when I came to a stop.) After that weekend, I was hooked. By the following Friday, I had obtained my motorcycle endorsement, bought a slightly modified Honda 250 and made my first solo run from Lake Charles, La. to San Antonio, Tx. I joined the Sandy Oaks Volunteer Fire Department in 1997. In April 2000, I obtained my pre-hospital trauma medical certification (ECA) from the Texas Department of State Health Services. I served my community in South Bexar County as both a volunteer firefighter and medic until retirement in February 2009. I am a member of the American Legion Riders Post 593, Southern Cruisers’ Riding Club and TMRA. I currently ride a Yamaha 650 V-Star.
