David served as a teacher and an administrator in public schools in New Hampshire and Massachussetts for 31 years. Following his retirement in 2003, David completed a reserve police officer training program through Northeast Regional Police Institute and is employed as a reserve officer for the town of Merrimac, MA. He is certifed as a First Responder and as an instructor of Community CPR/First Aid/AED through the American Red Cross.

In 2004, Gail and David traveled to Wisconsin to become certified instructors for a non-profit company called Accident Scene Management, Inc. They teach Basic and Advanced Bystander Assistance Programs, and were selected to be Instructor Trainers by ASMI due to their outstanding example.
