Leslie has been riding motorcycles since she was a toddler. She said, “My Dad had a helmet custom made for me when I was a little child so I could ride with him.” That stuck with her and she started riding her own in 2004. She currently rides an Indian Challenger Trike. She is an auxiliary member for the CVMA (Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association). It was her own personal experience of arriving at a motorcycle accident scene is what prompted me to become an instructor. She recalled, “ I was in my early 20’s and was with friends traveling to Moab Utah. The area of travel was very remote, and at that time it could take an hour for help to arrive to an accident. The closest Trauma 1 hospital was over 2 hours away. We came upon a very serious accident where no services had arrived yet, only several bystanders. We did the best we could to help given we were the only ones on scene with any medical experience and knowledge of proper techniques.” It is Leslie’s belief that spreading knowledge on best practices for motorcycle safety and accident preparedness is so important and can help change the outcome for the better.
