Q: Can I take the Online Basic Course even if I don’t have access to the Part Two Hands-On certification class?

A: Yes. There is good information in the Online Basic Course which will introduce or refresh your memory on how to respond and what your priorities should be. Of course it’s always best to complete the certification by taking hands-on, but you will still learn a lot by taking the online training.

Q: How long does the Online Basic Course take?

A: If you watch all of the videos, check out all of the links, and complete the entire course it will take about 2 hours.

Q: Do I have to complete the Online Basic Course in one sitting?

A: No, you can start and stop the class as many times as you wish.

Q: How many days will I have access to the course?

A: 30 days from the date of purchase

Q: If I plan to go on for certification and take a hands-on course, is there a time frame between completing the online and taking the hands on?

A: Yes, you have 6 months from taking the Online Basic Course to complete the Part Two BL Hands-On for certification.

Q: If I complete the Online training, and then can’t get into a Part Two Hands-On course right away, how can I refresh my memory before attending the hands-on course?

A: If you are a new student, you are required to purchase the ASM book (PDF or Hard Copy). This book will be your reference and a way to refresh your memory before your hands on class.

Q: If I do not see a Part Two Hands-On course in my area, can I chat with an Instructor about coming to my area to teach my group?

A: YES! Please contact an ASM certified Instructor in your area who can complete your certification with a hands-on class. The Hands-On course will take 3-3.5 hour depending on the number of students and instructors. We require one instructor for up to 15 students, and two instructors if you have over 15.

Q: My group is not very “techy”, I think we would be better off doing a class that is fully taught by an Instructor. Do we still have that option?

A: Yes, that is called Instructor Led (IL). You certainly have that option, as well as the blended learning option.

Q: If I take an Instructor Led class do I still need to take the Online Basic Course?

A: No, but you are welcome to do so if you wish.

Q: I took the ASM classes years ago and would like to refresh. How do I do that?

A: If it has been many years since you took the training, there have also have been many changes to our curriculum. You should take the full class again, either Blended learning (BL) or Instructor Led (IL) if you wish to renew your certification.

Q: I am current with my certification, but would like to renew. How do I do that?

A: Every two years you should complete an online course OR take a hands on BL Part Two course. Hands on is always best, but either one will keep your certification current. You can attend an Instructor Led class as well.
