Dr Butts has been a motorcycle enthusiast since he was very young. He said, “Coming from a family of eleven, it was not unusual for me and three other siblings to be piled onto my Dad’s 1949 Harley for frequent rides around the neighborhood and to the store.”

His love for motorcycles has led him to accumulate a small collection of about 50 motorcycles ranging in age from 1920 to 2023, including a wide variety of makes and sizes. He says he enjoys riding them but also enjoys working on them and pondering the history of how the mechanics and technology have evolved.

Motorcycling has truly been our favorite family sport over the years. He said, “My wife Linda and I along with our 5 adult children have enjoyed our off-road trips to northern Minnesota, the Colorado and Utah mountains, as well as many local and long-distance road rides. I’ve been a competitive dirt bike racer for many years and most recently have enjoyed competing in the Motorcycle Cannonball and Motorcycle Chase on the really old 1920-1947 Harley Davidsons!”

In his spare time, he is an Emergency Medicine certified physician working primarily in Saint Cloud, MN. His love of motorcycles and medicine make ASM a perfect fit. He joined ASM in 2023 to provide medical oversight for our programs.
